Barking, Dagenham and Ilford Circuit Community project
Grange Hill Methodist Church ceased to meet for worship in 2019, The small elderly congregation had the vision of creating a drop -in centre with a café to serve the local community. The Barking, Dagenham and Ilford Circuit appointed a small management committee led by Deacon Andy Packer to oversee the community project.
In January 2021 the Project become a referral agency for the Redbridge Food and also holds three day emergency food boxes. The project aims to become a contact point for debt advice through ’Christians Against Poverty’ (CAP).
We are looking to provide an additional entrance into the building and creating self-contained areas. This will enable duel use, providing a safe secure area for the Nursery and making additional areas available to both Church and community. The proposed work will include the creation of a café style drop-in centre. It is hoped to commence this work in July 2021 once we have secured the additional funding of £58,000 that is required.
The aim of the project
To become a focal point for the community, a place to go for support, advice, services and a place for prayer.
Our Mission Statement
Grange Hill Methodist Church is committed to proclaiming the good news of God’s Love and serving the community in which it is located.
Although it has no worshipping congregation, the management committee endeavours, with the help of various partners, to fulfil the command of
Jesus to ‘Love your neighbour.’
We seek to show God’s love through:
✔ Learning and Caring – that with care and support all people may develop to their full potential, regardless of their background.
✔ Service – by being a good neighbour and responding to all in need.
✔ Evangelism – by sharing the love of Jesus in all we are and do and enabling people to respond to that love.
We commit to be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as He leads and guides our discipleship and mission.
Grange Hill Methodist Church acts as a referral agency for the Redbridge Food Bank and has emergency food boxes for those in need.
Currently we are open each Saturday between 10am – 12noon
